Saudi Ministry of Culture Reveals Winners of Daw Film Competition

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Culture announced on Thursday the names of directors, screenwriters, and producers who won the Daw Film Competition, which was launched to support Saudi film production within the Quality of Life Program, one of the Saudi Vision 2030 programs.According to the results, 19 projects have won in the "completed scripts-short and long films" track, 8 in the long films: Abdulmohsen Aldhabaan, Mohammed AlSalman, Abdulaziz Alshlahei, Dania Nassif, Mohammed Saud Alatawi, Ayman Tariq Jamal, Tawfik Alzaidi, and Osama Alkhurayji.And 11 others in the short films: Hasan Saeed AlMadlouh, Afnan Bawian, Fahad Al-Asta', Alaa Yousef, Ibrahim Al Khairallah, Raja Alotaibi, Noura Abu Shusha, Reema Al-Majed, Qasim AlShafai, Maha Al-Saati, and Abdulrahman Aljandal.In the "scripts under-development" track, 6 winners were selected: Abdulaziz AlEssa, Mofarrej AlMejfel, Raed Al Sheikh, Hasan AlHejaili, Omar AlBadran, and Mujtaba Saeed, while Dania Al-Hamrani and Maan Abdulrahman won the complete films track.On the other hand, 3 projects won the “Saudi Filmmaking Students” track: Mariam Khayyat, Areej Alghamdi, and Abdulwhed Alabdlee.By announcing the winners, the Daw competition has moved to the production phase, during which the winning projects will be overseen by the Ministry of Culture in all phases.The initiative seeks to develop the Kingdom's filmmaking industry, as well as supporting and empowering Saudi talents by helping them develop their scripts or produce their movies. This in addition to providing them with the opportunity to screen their works in festivals and movie theaters in Saudi Arabia and abroad.
