The Film Commission launches 28 cinematic projects for "Light" competition winners

Today, Wednesday, at the Le Meridien Hotel in Riyadh, the Film Commission signed an agreement with 28 winners in the "Light" competition to support films in its first session, to produce 28 Saudi cinematic projects, including texts and long and short films, with funding of up to forty million riyals. And in the presence of a number of officials in the Ministry of Culture, media and press men, and a number of people interested in filmmaking in the Kingdom.In February of last year, the authority announced the names of the winners in the four tracks of the competition. Eight applicants won in the completed texts track “long films”, eleven applicants in the completed texts track “short films”, and six applicants in the “texts under development” track, Two contestants were selected for the completed films track "Long Films", while three contestants were selected for the students' track.For his part, the CEO of the Film Authority, Mr. Abdullah Al Ayyaf Al-Qahtani, thanked His Highness the Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Film Authority Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud for his continuous support for cultural projects, including the "Light" competition to support films. The competition elaborately enriches the movie industry.He said, "Light" began to receive registration applications, went through five stages of qualifying, nomination and arbitration, and concluded with announcing the results, and it did not end here. Rather, the production phase began with a large funding amount of 40 million riyals for these twenty-eight projects.
